Born in Lisbon in 1967, received his degree in Biochemistry from the Science Faculty of Lisbon in 1992; and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Imperial College of London, UK, in 1998; his research experience was in the fields of photosynthesis, molecular biology, plant and microbial biochemistry and bioenergetics, including a post-doctoral position (1999-2002) at ITQB in Oeiras, Portugal. He has published 14 peer-reviewed papers in scientific journals during his research career.
From 2002 until today, Francisco has worked as a Technical translator, proofreader/reviser and interpreter (English and French) collaborator of the IP firm Raúl César Ferreira (Herd.) S.A.. in Lisbon. His translation and proofreading/revising services are in the biological, chemical, pharmaceutical and medicinal fields. More than 500 patents translated and about 1600 revision services, mainly European patents in English. Also translation to and from English of patent examination reports, prosecution documents, patent litigation documents (writs, exhibits, opinions), etc., and as interpreter for foreigner technical witnesses in patent court cases. From 2008 to 2011 Francisco held the Patent Department Coordinator position at this leading IP firm in Portugal.
At present, Francisco is a freelance technical translator and scientific/Intellectual property consultant.
